A quick snapshot from a birthday morning—chocolates at the kitchen table before the school run.

Some mornings just hit right. This was one of them. It was my birthday, and Jasmine—already dressed and halfway through packing her bag—plonked a box of chocolates on the kitchen table and said:
“You’re not allowed to eat them all before I get home.”
Jasmine in Full Flow
She’s always got something on. Swimming club, judo, school, homework—she handles it all without slowing down. Strong-minded like her mum, and just as sharp.
But even on a busy morning, she’d remembered. No fuss, just handed me the box and smiled.
“I picked them myself. They had one with chilli in it but I didn’t trust it.”
Solid Little Moment
The table was chaos—papers, lunch stuff, a half-eaten slice of toast—but right in the middle of it, we paused. Jasmine cracked open the lid, pointed at one and said:
“That one looks dodgy. You try it.”
We laughed, I took the risk, and yep—it was coffee flavoured. Not bad though.
Final Thought
She was out the door not long after, shouting:
“Happy birthday again! Save me one!”
And just like that, the house was quiet. But that quick moment stuck with me. Not big, not dramatic. Just a reminder that she sees people, thinks of them—even when she’s got a million other things on.
Couldn’t ask for a better start to the day.
